Numerical and Experimental Investigation of the Seismic Effect of a Two-Stage Seismic Isolation Method

In order to improve the post-earthquake resilience of bridge structures, a Two-Stage seismic isolation method is proposed in this paper. According method, restoring force and horizontal stiffness are smaller first stage become much larger second stage. Therefore, new kind device, Friction Pendulum Bearing (TSFPB for short), invented based on traditional friction pendulum bearing (FPB short). paper, geometry configuration, sliding states hysteresis characteristics introduced with theoretical approach. Then curve TSFPB verified experimentally simulation an FEM software proposed. Last, numerical analysis actual highway girder carried out compare design recommended paper conventional method. It found that has adaptive force, energy dissipation mechanism different intensity levels better performance compared addition, bridges TSFPBs have residual displacements than those FPBs.
